Portable music players with headphones have undoubtedly killed off the traditional 'transistor radio' as we knew it, but nevertheless from talking with customers we found that many still desire a radio that can be carried & enjoyed where mains power is not available.

As always with Ruark Audio we've not followed convention! Placing batteries inside a radio steals valuable speaker capacity & this often results in poor sound quality. To overcome this we developed an optional rechargeable power pack which attaches & integrates onto the back panel of the new R1. Called ' Back Pack' this stylish device provides power for hours of 'mains-free' listening. The power supply that comes with R1 doubles as a charger making R1 always ready for picnics or just 'chilling out' in the bath.

The built in Bluetooth audio receiver ensures that you can stream music, internet radio & other services such as Spotify. The exterior is complimented by the unique Roto Dial, therefore meaning less buttons & easy use. An OLED display what your choice of station, time & other functions. This R1 can also be used as an alarm. Customisable twin alarms allow you to be woken up exactly how you want & for a few extra minutes in bed there are also the snooze & sleep timer functions. A USB (Universal Serial Bus) charge port means you can conveniently charge your smartphone whenever needed & the 3.5mm headphone jack ensures you can listen to your favourite music without disturbing others
