Superb electronic drum sticks that emit a variety of drum kit noises by beating them on any firm surface. The default is a standard drum, but it is possible to change the sound to a snare drum or cymbal crash for a single stroke at any stage, allowing quite complex effects to be achieved. The sticks will even play music to drum along to. The tips of the drum sticks light red with each stroke.
Anyone can make music! This delightful metal-stringed wooden instrument comes from Russia. It has been around for a long time, and is probably best known as a cymbala. It is played by plucking with the fingers or the plastic plectrum provided. Excellent music can be made, and the marvel of it is that it can be played immediately, even by quite young children, without knowledge or experience because it comes with specially-prepared tune sheets of varying complexity, from Rock-A-Bye-Baby to Bach. These sheets are positioned on the baseboard under the strings, after which the tune can be played simply by plucking the strings in the correct order as indicated by the route taken by the printed notes, an acceptable rendering being achievable almost immediately. Detailed instructions are provided, including for tuning, for which a spanner is supplied. Includes 5 double-sided music sheets and a spare string. It is just under 38cm in width.
Forty years ago it was common knowledge that the best bicycle bells were manufactured in China, and it's still true today. If you stand in any Chinese city you will hear a cacophony of 'honking' and 'ringing', made by classic horns and bells exactly the same as these. The 23cm horn is metal with the traditional rubber air-bulb, and makes the unmistakable old-fashioned two-tone 'Honk'. Fixes easily to any handlebar.
A large and pretty drum-shaped music box that opens to reveal a cute princess figurine who slowly twirls before a mirror as the tune of 'Beautiful Dreamer' plays. There is generous space inside for jewellery and other treasures, with a simple key wound mechanism. A traditional item made stylish enough for modern princesses.
A set of eight miniature metal hand bells, each bell ringing a different musical note. The enclosed song sheet gives directions to play four popular nursery rhymes using colour-coded instructions on which bell to ring when. A single player could learn with practice, or a group could be given a bell or two each with a 'conductor' indicating whose turn to play - or creating musical mayhem! An unusual and enchanting idea, particularly charming for Christmas gatherings.
A beautifully crafted 18cm wide miniature version of the real thing, made of tough plastic with canvas-type bellows. The number of keys has been cut down to make it easier to play, but it can still be used as a serious instrument, and even with no knowledge or practice its effect is not unpleasant. The basic instructions enclosed teach how to play scales and a few simple tunes. After that, practice helps.
Control buttons on the 10cm plastic violin allow you to select one of several programmed tunes, which you 'play' by drawing the miniature bow across the strings, as with the real thing. Sound is produced only while the bow makes contact, so you can play staccato by touching the strings very briefly or draw notes out by holding the bow down, and you choose the speed. Alternatively it can be set to play unaided, and comes on a keychain so you can always keep it to hand. It is very clever, an astonishing novelty which will fascinate almost anyone of any age.
