The Cromwell, officially named Cruiser Tank Mk VIII, was one of the most successful British tanks of the Second World War.  Named after the English Civil War leader, Oliver Cromwell, the tank proved to be an adept & rugged fighting machine & served until the end of the War.  While out-gunned & out-armoured by German tanks, the Cromwell managed to hold its own through better maneuverability, due to its relatively small size, & reliability in combat, something sorely lacking in German armour. The de Havilland Vampire was the second jet fighter to enter RAF service, coming after the Gloster Meteor.  Featuring a twin boom fuselage, which was to become a common feature of de Havilland designs, the Vampire proved a capable early jet fighter.  The Vampire T.11 trainer was developed from the fighter versions & served the RAF until 1967.  It was an excellent trainer & examples continue to fly today both in the UK & further afield.
