Empty 3/4 of the compost into the wooden planter & moisten. Open the seed packet & spread the seeds evenly onto the compost allowing 1cm between seeds (there will be enough seeds to make several sowings). Use the remaining compost to evenly cover the seeds & moisten.
Move to a warm well lit area; a windowsill is ideal. Keep the compost moist at all times
- never allow it to dry out. Within a few weeks you will be able to cut herbs with scissors as required. Once the crop has finished re-sow planter with new seeds as above.

Sow February to April in an open sunny site preferably on ground which has been manured for a previous crop. Sow in double rows 5cm (2in) deep 23cm (9in) apart in the row. The double rows should be spaced 23cm (9in) apart & a distance of 46-60cm (18-24in) should be left before the next set of double rows.
Hoe regularly & cut off the tops of the plants as soon as four clusters of bloom are showing.
Harvest the beans when the pods are well filled & the seeds still soft.
