Empty 3/4 of the compost into the wooden planter & moisten. Open the seed packet & spread the seeds evenly onto the compost allowing 1cm between seeds (there will be enough seeds to make several sowings). Use the remaining compost to evenly cover the seeds & moisten.
Move to a warm well lit area; a windowsill is ideal. Keep the compost moist at all times
- never allow it to dry out. Within a few weeks you will be able to cut herbs with scissors as required. Once the crop has finished re-sow planter with new seeds as above.

The location of your garden & the type of vegetation immediately around it will determine what birds will visit your bird bath & in what numbers. Siting of the bath is very important as birds will only use it if they feel safe. Birds get excited & pre-occupied about bathing & tend to be more vulnerable than at other times. Make sure birds have clear visibility as they bathe with bushes or trees nearby to provide cover if alarmed & perches to use when preening.
