An easy alternative to programmable timers, this super simple device has two setting, summer & winter which is via a simple slide switch. In winter mode for four hours & summer for two hours, once dark the timer itself will choose one of three settings, it will either turn on one to three times randomly during the night for an hour, or turn on every hour during the night for around thirty minutes, or turn on every hour during the night for fifteen minutes. So if someone is watching your house, the pattern isn't the same all the time, & doesn't happen all night...as it usually wouldn't when you're at home!
