Sram Red e Tap AXS is much more than a simple evolution of its predecessor, it is a revolution, a fully integrated approach to design a groupset that empowers ever more capable riders & the diverse range bikes that they choose to ride. The recent development of the 10 tooth hardest gear alongside 12-speed cassettes has allowed Sram to re-think gear ratios to offer more range & a smoother gear progression. The XG-1290, X-Dome cassette is machined from one-piece of steel in a design that optimizes stiffness & weight saving. The open design also aids mud clearance helping to keep an AXS drivetrain cleaner for longer improving performance & component lifespan. This cassette mounts to the wheel using the proven Sram XDR driver body which allows for a lighter & more versatile drivetrain. The majority of modern rear road wheels & hubs can be bought with an XDR driver or fitted with one aftermarket. The Sram AXS mobile app allows the rider to personalize how the lever paddles control the groupset on the fly while also being able to view connected feedback on ideal service times & battery levels of all AXS parts. The cassette choice the rider has specified can be entered into the app to optimize AXS smart shifting features for specific gear ratios. An example feature would be the optional sequential shifting in the 2x groupset, the rider simply shifts up or down & the electronics figure out which derailleur to move. The rear derailleur can also be set up to compensate for a front derailleur shift automatically, this makes it easier for the rider to maintain an even cadence as the jump down or up is less pronounced.
