CB I Hate Perfume am Brosius is the product of Christopher Brosius endeavours to create an ideal amber blend. The name is derived from the latin word for amber, a word which is
- coincidentally
- the origination of Brosius name. With this divine intervention in place, it seemed only fitting that he created an amber fragrance to end all amber fragrances. For am Brosius, he blended that amber with cistus, labdanum & benzoin among other natural resins, & arrived at a perfume that seems to crackle & smoulder on the skin. Naturally I love smoky incense scents but this one is particularly delicious.
- Christopher Brosius. The scent Amber absolutes, cistus resin, labdanum resin, black pepper oil, spices.

An incense-based fragrance that evokes the biblical. Smoky, heady & mesmerising, Fire from Heaven is an olfactory journey through the sacrosanct. Archetypes are eternal. They span eons & cross cultures. They generate myth, art & history itself. Archetypes are the foundation of all civilization. Their stories are endless because they are the truth behind the myth. Archetypes are life & in some way they touch us all. CB I Hate Perfume's founder Christopher Brosius finds that there are certain scents that capture the archetypes of perfume. Incense is a primal smell & we respond to it because it represents 'first smell memory'. Perhaps it is genetically encoded in us all. Serene, timeless, & beyond gender, incense smoke informs & gives rise to all fragrance. Smoke represents perhaps the most important aspect of perfume
- its beginning. Even its modern name is derived from an antique term that means 'to smoke through'. The scent: Fire From Heaven is blended from classic ancient incenses: frankincense, myrrh, opopanax, cedar, sandalwood, styrax & labdanum. But the perfume's scent is subtle. Fire From Heaven is the memory of smoke...

Christopher Brosius' house holds a very special place in his heart. Originally the summer kitchen on his family's farm, it is a tiny & invariably warm place full of happy memories. Even after much renovation & resurfacing, the woodwork & the rafters are still infused with the distinctive scent of two centuries worth of cooking. For Brosius, this is an intensely comforting & embracing scent, & CB I Hate Perfume In The Summer Kitchen is his interpretation of this feeling. On summer evenings, Christopher Brosius takes the time to quietly recline on a sofa in the summer kitchen beside the open window. He watches the fireflies dance gaily across a field of alfalfa, & takes pleasure in the utter tranquillity of the place. It is a moment of pure happiness as a gentle breeze blows across his face, carrying the scent of the vegetables & herbs growing just beneath the window. The scent is fresh & green & wonderful... The tale of the narcissus flower is the impetus behind this complex & infinitely beautiful fragrance from Christopher Brosius. CB I Hate Perfume M1 Narcissus is a scent that draws the hidden secrets from the heart of the bloom, revealing the true power of spring. The legend of the bloom is multifaceted. One tale depicts the beautiful man destroyed by vanity, leaning lower & lower still to his reflection in the water until he is lost forever. Another says that the narcissus represents the eye, & everyone knows that the eyes are the windows to the soul. Looking into anothers eye was to know that person truly
- a dangerous pursuit. But what is the link from man to flower to eye? Vanity is too simple an answer. The narcissus is one of the first spring flowers
- there is no mistaking this significance in myth. Spring is a time of transformation. The time of contemplation is over & the world changes. Something is lost
- this is inevitable
- but something greater is gained. We are changed & are the wiser for it. The scent The scent of narcissus, clean running water over mossy stones, the wind gently blowing through green leaves...

CB I Hate Perfume M3 November is another of Christopher Brosius scents that is inspired by literature. It is a fragrance that draws its spirit from a melancholy story from Tove Jansson, one with emotional themes that Brosius could not fully comprehend as a child. The story details a group who come together unexpectedly to a house in a valley by the sea. The group have fond memories of the house at summertime, a place where those summer months are whiled away in a haze of kindness & love. The house in November is an entirely different place: an abandoned shell that is dark & musty, just like the chilly & rainy valley. The darkness & the decay of that November tale stayed with him through to adulthood, & shaped his experience of that month for many years to come. Many years later, Brosius revisited the book & found it to be a fascinating character study, & quite a subject to tackle in a childrens book. It is a story of affect over effect, & Brosius has since learned to embrace November & find comfort in the beauty of decay. November is a time of great change; of anticipation for the coming snow, & the warmth of family & friends. The longing for green grass & the sight of fireflies twinkling in the woods is a distant dream, but the allure of pumpkin pie, bonfires & golden apples are a welcome alternative. The scent Pumpkin pie, fallen apples, bonfire, wood smoke, dried grass, fallen leaves, wet branches, damp moss, chanterelle mushrooms & a hint of pine forest. ...

CB I Hate Perfume M4 A Room With a View is an evocative fragrance inspired by a passage from Christopher Brosius' favourite novel of the same name. Towards the end of Chapter Six, some incredible imagery occurs: ' She did not answer. From her feet the ground sloped sharply into view, & violets ran down in rivulets & streams & cataracts, irrigating the hillside with blue, eddying round the tree stems, collecting into pools in the hollows, covering the grass with spots of azure foam. But never again were they in such profusion; this terrace was the well-head, the primal source whence beauty gushed out to water the earth. Standing at its brink, like a swimmer who prepares, was the good man. But he was not the good man that she had expected, & he was alone. George had turned at the sound of her arrival. For a moment he contemplated her, as one who had fallen out of heaven. He saw radiant joy in her face, he saw the flowers beat against her dress in blue waves. The bushes above them closed. He stepped quickly forward & kissed her.' This beautiful prose delivers the perfect recipe for an equally beautiful fragrance: a deluge of violets, greenery & earth. Christopher Brosius perfectly portrays the wonder of the moment, one where one simple moment can transform an entire life. The scent It is the scent of the hills above Florence
- the vineyards, the wild grass, the finocchio, the hot dusty Florentine earth. & of course, a torrent of violets...
