...After listening to skiers inside & outside their factory walls, DPS brought back the classic formula used in the original Foundation RP & for 2019/20 it’s back both in name & physical form. It has the versatility for complete control in all conditions by using a tapered, flatter sidecut section that blends at the contact points & a triaxial fibreglass weave in the core adds hard snow performance & stability in deep or variable conditions. The Wailer 112 RP consistently & playfully delivers ultimate powder versatility, with ultimate ease-of-use, in varying conditions while cradling the rider into a world of smile-inducing powder planing performance. Terrain Type & Ability Level Terrain Type It is aimed at deeper & softer snow but it is surprisingly capable on groomed conditions & firmer snow, so you don’t need to worry that it is just a 1-dimensional powder option. When the snow isn’t as good as you hoped the 112 is still simple to ski & turns way better than other 110mm+ skis. Skier Type Advanced skiers wanting a stable, smooth turning ski for soft snow, & which is also great around the rest of the mountain. experts used to longer radius, hard-charging models may not appreciate the shorter radius, but for the majority of skiers it makes the ski more accessible & enjoyable. In fact, the F112 skis much easier than you would imagine for a 112mm waist thanks to the mix of rocker & the long contact points which result in an intuitive turning ability in soft snow & hassle-free turns on firmer conditions & pistes. Overview Shape The RP shape is both surfy & intuitive. The tapered tip & tail initiate turns effortlessly & allows them to be exited with clean carves or easily washed out. 112mm provides awesome float when you find soft snow, working with the shape to allow the ski to flow through turns in powder & keep that surfy, playful feel even when the snow isn’t deep or you’re on groomers. The turny 15m radius feels great on firmer snow & helps create the flowing feel in softer conditions. Rocker Rocker at the tip & tail equates to 45% rocker. Sounds like a lot but it works perfectly with the shaping. The camber underfoot makes the most of the carbon construction & playful 15m radius. Core The bi-phase wood core of poplar & bamboo ensures the weight is kept down & both durability & liveliness are prioritised. Construction Sidewalls maximise the precision & the energy transfer, resulting in the best levels of edge grip & control. The Foundation build employs a combination of techniques to maximise performance. Key Features Foundation A supremely damp, powerful, & durable construction. employing best-in-class components from start-to-finish, weight was not a factor during the design process. Triaxial fibreglass wraps the bamboo & poplar bi-phase wood core, while unidirectional carbon stringers add torsional stiffness. The result is an on-snow feel that produces a wonderful blend of power & dampness, & is readily accessible to a wide range of skier profiles.RP Shaping The RP chassis started with the first Wailer 112 RP design that incorporated generous tip/tail rocker & taper. RP originally stood for ‘ Resort Powder’, & the legend began. Its shape opens doors & makes truly versatile powder planing accessible to many. The RP’s core shaping equation is impressive, 45% rocker merged with a 15m sidecut & means natural, intuitive skiing.e B tester’s comments: Technical Specifications Size (cm) Tip Width (mm) Waist Width (mm) Tail Width (mm) Radius (m) Weight (g)168132112122151840178134112124151980184135112122152110189141112129152300 General Information Skier Ability: Advanced/expert Terrain Type: Freeride Rocker: Tip/ Tail Rocker Radius: Short Base: Sintered Bindings: n/a DIN: n/a Construction: Full Sidewall Core: Wood, Carbon Demo: Yes Sizing Description: Forehead to over head height.
