Black Crow's Camox has freestyle DNA & an all-condition design, making it a playful but not soft, freeride & all mountain ski. There's no metal in the build but a solid construction, and a shape that keeps the effective edge long, means it has plenty of control for stronger skiers. On piste it isn't afraid of speed & will lay down medium & long turns as well as popping off hits & bumps. Off-piste & the mix of stability & manoeuvrability makes it shine, whether turning through powder or dealing with old snow, on wide open slopes or in tighter, more controlled situations. Terrain Type & Ability Level Terrain Type The Camox is a genuine all rounder, happy to carve & play on pistes all day or to head off-piste & explore whatever snow you'll find. In medium & long turns on groomers you can dial up the speed & the grip won't let you down at all. Then, because there's no metal, it isn't over-stiff or over-precise when skiing off-piste & manoeuvrability becomes more important, especially as the terrain or conditions get trickier. It won't match the float of wider, more rockered models but it will leave them in its trail away from the powder. Skier Type Advanced all condition skiers looking for a strong but playful ski will definitely enjoy the Camox. There's no metal in here, so the flex is a bit softer than some skis around the same width that would have it, but for a ski with this kind of construction it feels nicely solid. It's not an especially forgving ski so won't suit intermediates particularly well. For decent skiers it strikes a good balance between grip & control for carving on pistes & manoeuvrability for skiing all mountain. Overview Shape 97mm in the waist with a 20m radius (180cm) make this an excellent all rounder, capable of dealing with any snow. Stable & wide enough to handle soft or mixed conditions and still lay down medium & long radius turns on piste. The contact points sit further into the tip & tail than a Captis & this makes it more positive in & out of the turn, adding extra grip as the contact length is longer. It's freestyle DNA is seen in the partial twin tip design at the tail that allows a smoother turn release & adds to the playful feel of the ski. Rocker Double Rocker uses a rocker at the tip & tail with medium classic camber underfoot. The rocker helps with control in rougher snow & improves manoeuvrability. The camber helps with grip & response. Core A poplar wood core ensures good durability & energy. Construction The cap sidewall mix offers the best of both. The cap sections at the tip & tail increase durability & help with ease in & out of the turn. The sidewall improves the grip & precision. This combination works well on a 97mm ski as it allows strong skiing on firm snow & isn't over-responsive when the conditions get difficult or soft. Key Featurese B tester’s comments: Mark (Trainer) These feel great in such a mixture of conditions & speeds. Fast on the groomer or a little slower just off the side or a bit beyond. Perfect for anyone wanting to get more adventurous.
