The Volkl Essenza Chiara is squarely aimed at the majority of European women skiers; a fantastic all conditions piste ski, confidence inspiring & able to adapt to all snow conditions. At 77mm wide although a piste biased ski it offers enough width to make trips between the runs too, & that width creates a very stable ski that means that you can focus on enjoying the mountain. The Volkl Chiara for 2014 has also had significant weight reduction thanks to an updated Biologic xtra LIGHT construction & revised Marker binding system. The core is a full wood core for superb rebound, whilst the 3D top sheet offers extra support where it is needed in the nose, tail & along the edges without making this feel too stiff a ski, making it ideal for the intermediate skier who may wish to progress, or is perfectly happy cruising the blues. The addition of a modern tip rocker to the ski, lifting the nose a little, means that you also get smooth entry into turns, & fantastic nose stability even in soft or chopped up snow. With the updated Marker 4 Motion ESSENZA binding & the Biologic womens specific lightened xtra LIGHT wood core, this ski is also lightweight for easy transport, & lighter turns edge to edge, without any loss of grip or control when skiing the mountain. They have removed a lot of weight from these skis this year too, which you do notice when you pick them up, & makes the ski feel very nimble underfoot, even with it being wider than a classic piste ski. A lovely ski! IS IT FOR ME? The ideal ski for many of our customers that we see in store, who may be skiing 1 or 2 weeks per year, are at a good intermediate level & either want a ski that they can just step into & ski like a comfortable pair of slippers, or a ski that will not dent your confidence & allow you to fine tune your carving skills.
