Next time you are in soft snow watch how much snow comes over the corner of the nose near the contact point. The billowing snow coming out from behind the tip means you are plowing through it which is obviously slowing you down. By adding a blunt nose you get the float benefits of a much longer board without the ‘snow plow’ rounded tip & it’s extra swing weight.“

Features: Directional Rocker is designed to reduce the most common kinds of falls that occur when freeriding. It is a hybrid rocker/camber profile with more rocker at the nose than the tail. The increased nose rocker improves float in soft & slushy snow & reduces the chance of nose diving when landing in powder. The less rockered tail maintains power while the slight camber between the bindings increases edge hold & response. By increasing the number of contact points along the edge Mellow Magne-traction improves edge grip. This is especially valuable when combined with a rocker profile as it combats the looser nature of the board which is a result of the raised tip & tail contact points. The benefit of a Blunt Nose shape is the increased surface area at the front of the board without having to increase the board length. Essentially you can ride a shorter board, get the same amount of float, reduce swing weight & increase manoeuvrability. Super light poplar stringers are used in the middle of the core & these are framed with super tough Beech stringers under the edges. The Hard Core is Jones’ signature core & the combination of woods provides a snappy even flex, with the damp yet responsive energy transfer at the edges. All Jones boards feature full tip-to-tail a FSC Wood Core. A combination of multi-layered, multi-axis fibreglass is meshed with dual-zone carbon fibre power bands to make up the Carbon Quadrax laminate. A Stone Ground base creates a defined structure which improves wax absorption & glide. The Flagship really comes to life when it’s ridden hard & fast & on challenging terrain. What Jeremy has done with the Hovercraft is to produce a powder board that can be ridden in all conditions. The short tail & set-back definitely took a little getting used to on the slushy, cruddy snow that I rode it on, but that is part of the appeal. This isn’t your regular snowboard & gives you a gentle nudge to get out of your comfort zone a little & see just what’s possible.  Is it for me? For the intermediate to advanced powder junkie that doesn’t want the fun to stop when the fresh snow has been fully tracked out.
