A unique single origin gourmet organic coffee, grown in the heart of the Peruvian Andes. Medium roasted to deliver a vibrant taste with light nutty tones, a subtle caramel edge and delicious aroma. Ideal for use in any cafétiere, filter machine or jug. A Fairtrade product.
It might be medium but there’s nothing average about our Medium Roast Fresh Ground Coffee. With a light yet rounded flavour, it’s an easy-drinking blend for morning to evening.
Made with 100% Arabica beans, the Medium Roast delivers a smooth, flavoursome cup of coffee, for everyone to enjoy.
Grown in the lush green highlands of Central and South America, it’s our original blend and it’s really stood the test of time – well, since 1991.
Fresh and fruity, with lively notes of blackcurrant and warm overtones of vanilla, our Kilimanjaro Gourmet is a finely balanced coffee, perfect, we think, for breakfast or a mid-morning break. Grown in the rich, volcanic soils of Mount Kilimanjaro, it’s got the sort of smooth, yet complex taste you’d expect from fine single origin Arabica beans.
Aikande and the other expert coffee growers have worked long and hard to perfect these high quality beans. Time well spent as they make a fine and popular coffee, generating the revenue needed to grow and maintain a high quality in the future.
Intense and assertive. An attractive bitterness with hints of cream and exotic fruit.

Adventure in Italy:
A romantic weekend in Italy begins with coffee.
From Rome to Verona, Italians wake up to the hum of espresso machines, the chat and chink of coffee cups. Morning espresso is drunk standing - hot, strong and fast. Get the hit and get going.
Chat-up lines, lines of scooters, lines of washing, Italy hangs out around coffee bars.
Italians don't play by any rules - they enjoy their own high-octane lifestyle.
The best way to catch the rhythm of Italian life is over the crema of an aromatic espresso.
Choose a comfortable spot in one of old Rome's elegant piazzas or grab a front-row seat amongst the contemporary set of Milan.
But don't stop at espresso; go for a latte or a cappuccino (but never after 11am, that's just so not done).
A complex range of interwoven flavours and aromas; treacle toffee, cocoa, liquorice and grapefruit deliver a well-balanced coffee full of character.

Adventure in Latin America:
Even to the seasoned coffee adventurer, the mere mention of Latin America - those untamed lands that lie between the Equator and the Tropic of Cancer - is enough to fire the passions. There is nothing laid-back about this portion of the planet. The people, the music and the landscape all have an exciting vibrancy.
There's the majesty of the Sierra Madre and the Andes mountains, the vast deserts, simmering volcanoes and deep canyons. You can add to that a diversity of wildlife (spot the lizards) rich enough to bring out the Darwin in all of us.
Coffee has been harvested in these parts for nearly 300 years.
So, with the aroma of a cup of coffee, relax and watch the evening sun transmute the mountains into pure gold. How close to paradise do you want to be

Adventure in the Colombian Rainforest:
East of the Andes lies the great Colombian rainforest, whose fragile ecosystem supports a biodiversity of plant and animal life. The intrepid coffee adventurer may see a condor or glimpse a hummingbird; and even the odd friendly parrot.
Colombian rainforest coffee has been grown by indigenous communities here for generations. The Maya may have lost an ancient city or two over the years, but their descendents have certainly found the best way to get the fertile forest floor to yield a fine crop of coffee.
Make sure you watch out for some of the Rainforests less friendly inhabitants!

An Original Adventure
Waking jet-lagged and still unpacked, the coffee adventurer usually heads for the kitchen. Here, on familiar territory, you can turn on the radio, power up the kettle and let the morning news and a hot, fresh brew kick start you into the world.
The kitchen is the heart of the home. A place where formality is kept in a cupboard. It's also where coffee is best enjoyed, with the company of good friends and relaxed conversation.
Oh, forget about the washing up for now!
This coffee truly can deliver: it has a robust, fruit intensity, and a decent balance. Drink it early and late. Make the day more mellow. Decaffeinated using a natural carbon dioxide method that gently removes the caffeine without impairing the mellow flavours and rich aroma.
Certified organic by the Soil Association. Grown to organic standards without the use of fertilisers or pesticides.

Adventure in Colombia:
As you approach Bogota from 30, 000ft up you'll notice that Colombia sits at the gateway to South America. Colombia is a land of extremes; from Cartagena to Bogota the coffee adventurer will experience a real diversity of culture and beauty.
For a start, it has opposing Atlantic and Pacific coasts - and it seems like the weather regularly tries to empty these two oceans over the rainforests. Which must be good for the plants (and arabica coffee) - Colombia has over 130, 000 species, including Victoria Amazonica - a giant water lily with pads that can support the weight of anything from a poisoned dart frog to a small child.
Bogota is fast and elegant, a heady mix of futuristic architecture, colonial style, and hot-blooded everything. This is the capital of coffee and it runs in the veins of the people.
Bogotanians are not renowned for their quality of sleep so you might not get chance to unpack your pyjamas!
Wonderfully seductive flavour with overtones of dark chocolate mixed with fruit. Delicate and refined aroma, and a finish comparable to a great wine.

Adventure in Guatemala:
Coffee Adventurers; welcome to the heartland of the Maya. Most of Guatemala's coffee is organically grown 5000ft up on the Pacific slopes of the Sierra Madre Mountains. Here the volcanic soil gives the roots a fine start in life, while the pure air makes sure the beans are clean living and never touched by pesticides. While you're up there, be sure to visit the Mayan city of Tikal - undoubtedly one of the major wonders of the ancient world. Here amongst the temple ruins howler monkeys will serenade you with their wondrous racket and nick your picnic as payment. Be warned. Guatemala has the highest volcanoes in Central America - and most of them are active. So if you experience the shakes, it won't be the coffee.
Dark and full with upfront flavours of bitter chocolate and hazelnut with a smooth and rounded finish.

Adventure in New York City:
A perfect moment in New York for the coffee adventurer. Stand on any corner during the early commute and witness the morning ritual of the Manhattan business community grabbing that vital 'cuppa Joe' from the street vendors.
Americano coffee, whether served black or regular, is at the heart of the New York rush. New Yorkers demand more from their coffee, so think long and smooth. In fact if you start drinking it at Prince and Broadway you'll probably just have finished by 59th and 5th and be raring to go sightseeing and shopping!
Beautifully aromatic. Bursting with flavour. Smooth rich and velvety with hints of toffee, caramel and chocolate. It tastes so good you'd never know its decaf.

Adventure in Colombia:
To enjoy your trek in the Andes you need to be sure footed and sure to carry a comprehensive survival kit. The weather up here is very different from when you stepped off the plane.
Out of breath already? Those were just the foothills. You've a long way to climb yet before you can hear the Condor's cry and observe the mighty Magdalena river flowing below you in eerie silence.
This landscape is sparse but beautiful in its own way - like a good decaf. With everything taken away it's a very different type of understated beauty that will greet the coffee adventurer, but memorable nonetheless; especially if you meet a mountain tapir en route.
Temperatures drop below 5 degrees at night though so remember to bring a warm sleeping bag!
