Zalman have updated their premium low-profile cooler, CNPS8000A. The new CNPS8000B now has a 92mm PWM fan & offers better performance than its predecessor. Because CPUs are getting hotter & hotter, we have seen heatsinks getting bigger & bigger to cope with the cooling demands. The problem with very large heatsinks is that they sometimes cannot be used in a lower profile chassis where space is at a premium. Attached above the heatsink is a legendary Zalman 92mm PWM fan which has been designed to vary its speed depending on the temperature of the CPU. The minimum noise is only 20 d BA, but when the CPU is pushed to its limit, the fan speed can increase to provide more cooling. Of course this works in reverse; the fan speed will decrease as the temperature of the CPU drops. This method gives the user piece of mind knowing that when the CPU needs it, extra cooling is provided.
