The Difflector combines a reflector & a diffuser in a single unit due to fabric that transmits light on one side but bounces it off the other side. Reflectors can be the most useful accessory in your camera bag. Used to add light to the shadows, they are a portable, non battery operated extra light source that is visible to the naked eye unlike flash. So when do you need a diffuser When light is very directional & throws harsh shadows onto your subject. They are often used in professional photo-shoots outdoors particularly on sunny beaches.
