The Difflector combines a reflector & a diffuser in a single unit due to fabric that transmits light on one side but bounces it off the other side. So when do you need a diffuser When light is very directional & throws harsh shadows onto your subject. They are often used in professional photo-shoots outdoors particularly on sunny beaches. We were very impressed with the Difflector at Photokina 2010 World Photographic Fair, held every 2 years as you can never foresee lighting conditions, it is extremely useful to have one tool that does two jobs.
