Features Rexel Shredder Lubricant 473ml. Recommended for Rexel Large Office, Mercury Departmental & Wide Entry shredder models. Not for Auto+ models. The most effective way to care for your shredder is to oil the cutting heads regularly. All paper shredders need shredder oil to continue to function properly. Paper dust from the shredding process builds up inside the shredder around the cutters. To keep your Acco Rexel shredder shredding efficiently & to prolong the life of the machine, oiling the cutters with Acco Rexel shredder oil is part & parcel of owning a shredder. As a rule of thumb the higher the security level & finer the cut the paper shredder makes, the more oil it will need. Also how often you oil your shredder is determined by a number of factors. Cross cut shredders need to be oiled more often than strip cut shredders. A cross cut paper shredder will require regular applications of shredder oil while a strip cut shredder can go for a longer period of time without decreased performance. The more you use your Acco Rexel shredder the more shredder oil you will need. Most manufacturers recommend oiling the cutters once every 30 minutes of continuous shredding. As a rule of thumb we recommend you oil your paper shredder every time you change the shredder bag. Oiling your Acco Rexel shredder is very simple & can be done by anybody. You can apply shredder oil directly onto the cutting head in a fine stream through the paper entry throat, & should take 1-2 seconds to oil from one side of the opening to the other. Make sure to turn your shredder on to reverse for about 10 to 20 seconds to allow the shredder oil to be transferred to all parts of the cutting heads. The next step is to shred a few sheets of paper to remove the excess shredder oil. Another simple technique is to apply shredder oil to a sheet of paper in a zigzag motion & then shred the sheet. Make sure not to soak the entire sheet in shredder oil. Acco Rexel shredder oil is the only lubricant which should be used on an Acco Rexel shredder. Using other types of shredder oil or lubricants will void the manufacturer’s warranty. The reason for this is because shredder oil leaves no residue on the cutters unlike other oils which will attract paper dust & in turn clog the cutting head.
