This nature walk is a wonderful opportunity to take a gentle stroll in the beautiful Peak District, at any time of year you choose. In the spring, some of the dales are filled with rare wild flowers such as early violet orchids, mountain pansies, cowslips, meadow saxifrage etc, & these walks at that time of the year would involve finding & identifying different types of flowers. During the winter months, it is a good time to study the rock formations on the dramatic Peak District grit stone edges & learn a little about the geology of the area, as well as learning to identify some of the lichens that grow on the rocks. Whats more you will learn about how you can minimise your impact on fragile natural environments whilst you are enjoying walking through them. So if youre looking to explore the Peak District, this guided nature walk is the best way to view it all. Programme To begin you will meet with your guide at a pre-arranged meeting point who will then discuss where you will be walking & what you can expect to see. The walk will be between three & four miles & can vary depending on the time of year. Therefore you may focus on learning about wild flowers, animals, geology, conservation or local history. These walks take place in all weathers, however if it is deemed unsuitable your walk will be rearranged. Remember to take your camera as there will be plenty of photo opportunities. Please note this experience is valid for either two adults, or one adult & one child. Duration This experience will last Approx. two hours. Group There will be a maximum of 8 people in your group. Spectators Unfortunately you cannot bring spectators to watch. Fitness A general level of fitness is required for this experience as you will be walking three to four miles. Navigation is the one area that leads to more trouble in the outdoors than virtually anything else. This class in navigation will be one day in length & it will cover all aspects of navigation. Countless numbers of people are lost in Britains hills & mountains every year. You shouldnt even consider going into real wilderness if you cant read a map properly. Unfortunately, many do. If you want to spread your wings & learn to navigate properly, this is the course for you. Once we have covered the theory, its out onto the Cambrian Mountains to put what you have learnt into practice. Your standard of map reading will dramatically improve & will give you new confidence & ability to explore the wild, safe in the knowledge that you know where you are. We recommend no younger than 12 years old. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. You do not have to be physically fit, but should have a positive attitude & an open mind.
