Throughout the ages there has been numerous reports about the brilliance of Cyprus wines. There was always a special bond between the Cyprus vineyard & their wines, however it all came under threat with the various times the island was invaded & the wines making lost its way. Keo made it their mission in the 80's aiming to recover, preserve & discover the indigenous Cyprus varieties that were mentioned in old text back in the Middle Ages. Keo found & has re-planted the indigenous grape varieties. They named this the Mallia project & it saw them, buying enough land to plant old & new grapes from Cyprus & around the world. They also travelled around Europe to study foreign cultivation to enhance their wine growing project. Keo refurbished the Mallia winery where it grows some of the rarest & most popular grapes know. This building is not used only for making wine but it is also a research centre to discover new ways of making wines & what different combination of grapes suit each other.
