Using the same tried & tested, mechanical variable speed system as our popular w 813 lathe, this new lathe offers big capacity turning without the big price tag. The floorstand & lathe bed are made from cast iron. the bed, which is a single piece (not two halves bolted togethor), is then precision ground to give a smooth surface which ensures vibration free running. the headstock is again made from cast iron. it can traverse the entire length of the bed & be locked at any point. the head can also be rotated on the bed & has preset stops at 45, 90, 135 & 180 degrees. this allows bowls of more than 400mm to be turned & often gives the operator more comfortable options for positioning the tool rest. the speed is varied by a single lever & there is a large digital speed display to ensure the correct speed is being used.
