These are powerful, modified standard fins which also work well in terms of manoeuvring in the water. Initially we felt the fins looked a bit outdated but their appearance grows on you. In practice, you might be forgiven for thinking these are split fins, as they perform in a similar fashion. This is all down to the soft inner section of blade which allows the two outer sides to move independently of one another... . with a price tag of just £30 (RRP) you could buy two pairs & still have paid less than for the majority of the others in this test

With a tailored fit, Vortex is more stylish than the usual baggy membrane suits yet is still highly flexible. The Vortex drysuit is Northern Diver’s entry-level model. It is manufactured from a polyester/nylon trilaminate fabric & is available in blue & black. In the past, it has proved to be popular with armed & special forces in Australia, Holl&, Belgium, Ireland & Icel&. It is available in various styles, with the recreational diver version proving to be the most common choice. As with the Cortex, the internal seals are triple-glued, rubber-taped & vulcanised. The knees are fitted with a double-layer padded knee-patch that is printed with rubber for extra protection. This printed rubber protection is also applied to the shoulder areas, which are prone to wear from the straps of a BC. At under £500 this suit represents pretty good value for your money compared with what the competition has to offer.
