K2 Ultra Dream Snowboard 168
- 2013
When we first came across the Ultra Dream we thought we had walked into the wrong show & were looking at a device for some other sport so revolutionary is K2’s new shape, then we rode it… Something of an enigma, the Ultra Dream looks like a powder specific snowboard, if it looks like a snowboard at all, but strap in & you will find yourself on a really stable snowboard that can be ridden in any terrain, from rails & boxes to the deepest blower pow in the remotest of back country locations. There are two revolutionary concepts at play in the shape & profile of the Ultra Dream, firstly BC shaping which increases the transition between the edge & tip to give a mellower turn initiation when riding the deeps & secondly Tweekend, which combines the rocker zone & tip rise to create a smooth, uninterrupted rocker from outside the binding inserts to the tip giving you more surface area to land on & a more intuitive feel when buttering & jibbing, it even spins well with the squared off nose & tail! The Ultra Dream does have a few more tricks up its sleeve; the core comes with a two year warranty as it’s made from a blend of super tough bamboo, honeycomb & three species of renewable wood, which deliver strength, pop & light weight performance, Carbon Web II that increases the snap & feel directly under your bindings while the Sintered 0 base is one of the quickest in the industry. The Ultra Dream is a board for those who hanker after perfect snow in the deeps but need a board that can perform whatever conditions they find.
