Perfect with a range of dishes, but again, Italian food seem to be the order of the day. In the hills of Molise they make rich, slow-cooked roasts of lamb & mutton, steeped in mountain herbs & garlic, which are absolutely perfect with this wine's gorgeous depth of fruit. Polenta grilled with sharp pecorino cheese is also a must try. Di Majo Norante is located to the north of the Gargano in the Marquis Norante of Santa Cristina estate. This estate has been dedicated to the cultivation of vines since the 1800s. Optimal exposure, constant breezes during the summer, excellent soil & sloped valleys create a particularly favourable environment for the production of wine. Dark garnet red in the glass, with a voluptuous nose suggesting sun-ripened cherries & woodland berries poached with liquorice, leather & aromatic violet flowers. In the mouth it is bold & beautiful, showing a lively complexity of fruit with fine tannins & acids. A very well-made, complex but easy-going wine. Wonderful stuff.
