Longer in shape than the average shallot Mikor Shallot has reddish-copper skin with crisp white pink-tinged flesh & is perfect for cooking. It is an essential ingredient in traditional French cuisine & has excellent storing qualities.

You can plant shallots right through to April & it is better to plant a few at a time in order to give yourself plenty of green salading material over an extended season. They are frost hardy & can be planted up in a polytunnel or in a cold greenhouse. If you place fleece over the bulbs it will help to get them established faster.

By late summer this Oriental Poppy produces attractive seed heads that make an eye-catching feature in your beds & borders. They are lovely open flowers that are almost ethereal in appearance easy to grow.

When risk of all frost has passed plant in a sunny position in rich fertile well drained soil. Add plenty of compost to the soil prior to planting. Deadhead faded poppy flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced & cut back old foliage to ground level in autumn. Lift & divide overcrowded clumps in spring.
