Greene King can trace its origins back to 1779 when Benjamin Greene set up a family brewing business in the Suffolk town of Bury St Edmunds. In 1887 his grandson Edward Greene joined forces with another local brewer, Frederick King, & the business rapidly evolved into one of the largest breweries in Engl&, with over 148 pubs under its control by 1900. Greene King IPA is the brewery's flagship ale. Its refreshing taste is achieved through a careful balance of four simple ingredients
- malted barley, yeast, water, hops
- brewed in a way that honours traditional methods such as adding the hops by h&. The drink is enjoyed in over 20 countries across the world, & its popularity has been bolstered by the addition of IPA Gold & IPA Reserve to the Greene King family.
