Black Velvet whiksy is distilled in Alberta, the name was changed from Black Label to Black Velvet in 1940 by the head distiller as he thought it better reflected the velvety texture of the whisky. Black Velvet has recently reemerged onto the international scene with the addition of the 8 year old Reserve & the Toasted Caramel. The younger Black Velvet offerings are designed to be mixed, whereas this 8 year old is designed to be sipped & enjoyed neat.
