Newly designed 90 deg. Flag and Cutter frames will make it possible to position the instrument over the top of the set wall or to use two or more units to create a box for better light control. With this new design, there are now three square corners as opposed to the older design providing just two. In addition, the 48"x48" frames have been squared off with the removal of the mouse ears. Flags are square or rectangular frames with mounting pins attached and covered with a solid cloth material. Used to control light, whether natural or artificial. Flags can be used to protect the camera lens from flares or to control spill light from other sources, or keep light from reaching certain areas on the set. Known as Flags up to sizes 24"x36", larger or more irregular sizes are referred to as Cutters, Floppies are Cutters which have an extra layer of material sewn to one edge and held in place with Velcro until needed at which time the Flag or Cutter becomes twice its original size. Use the number with a (B) after it for Bottom Hinge and the number with a (T) after it to specify Top Hinge. All Matthews Scrims and Flags are bordered with heavy duty color coded webbing.

Open End Frames are made of spring steel with a 3/8" pin and support which can be used to hang the Scrim from the C-Stand handle when not in use. The two upright arms of the frame are slotted at the two open ends to retain the piano wire woven through the fabric to make up the fourth side of the frame without causing a shadow. Open Ends are used to control ormanipulate light falling on certain areas of the set or subject. They can be used to soften or reduce light without a noticeable edge. A color coded binding is used around the frame to identify the fabric. Matthews Open End Frames are black powder coated to minimize unwanted reflections.

Steel Patterns, or gobos, are widely used by designers in theatre, film, photography and television to create atmosphere, project scenery, and generally enhance the visual impact of their lighting. To insure design integrity the patterns are etched using a precise double-sided process on stainless steel. The result is durable, high quality patterns which will withstand the extreme heat at the gate of ellipsoidal spotlights. Conceived by some of the worlds leading lighting designers, the Rosco range presently includes over 1000 standard steel gobo designs. Rosco Steel Gobos are available in 11 standard sizes which comprise most of the fixtures currently available. The popular "A" and "B" sizes fit most ellipsoidal luminaires. Gobo Holders are available for A and B size steel gobos. Standard sizes for popular moving lights are also available. Trimming of patterns, where necessary, can be easily accomplished with a pair of scissors.
