Size: 2 Litre Availability: within 2 weeks Description: Ensete ventricosum maurelii can produce huge leaves in time; the unusual leaf colour is green suffused with maroon, with blood red stems, making a wonderful foil for other planting. Not a true banana, but closely related with large paddle-shaped leaves, Ensete enjoys full sun & benefits from a sheltered situation so that the leaves do not become shredded by wind. It is a hungry feeder & requires a rich compost & frequent feeding. An excellent plant for growing in a large container which can be moved into a conservatory or greenhouse in winter. It must not be allowed to dry out at the root. Protect from frost in winter if left out in the garden. This banana plant has inedible fruits, but the roots & flower stalks are edible after cooking & used as a source of food in some African countries Great for: Garden Moisture: Water weekly Growth Speed: Fast Origin: Africa Flower Period: Summer, spring Flower
