In 2004, cult director Miike Takashi made his first foray into family entertainment with the superhero film Zebraman. The film, starring Aikawa Sho as a teacher in the year 2010 who takes up the identity of a TV hero from his childhood & saves the world from aliens in the process, became Miikes biggest hit at the time. Six years later, Miike & writer Kudo Kankuro ( Shonen Merikensack) reunite for Zebraman: Vengeful Zebra City, a sequel that takes the Zebraman saga into the year 2025, during which the striped hero is called upon to save the world from an Orwellian-esque government. In addition to legendary Aikawa returning as the Zebra suit-donning hero, Naka Riisa ( Toki wo Kakeru Shojo) steals the show with a sexy performance as leather-clad villain Zebra Queen.
15 years after the events of the first Zebraman, Ichikawa (Aikawa Sho) wakes up from his 15-year-long slumber. Its now 2025, Tokyo has been renamed Zebra City, & its corrupted ruler has allowed the police force
- named Zebra Police
- to kill anyone they suspect of a crime during two five-minute periods each day. Ichikawa is attacked by the police during such a period & loses memory of his superhero past. Taken in by a young man who recognizes him from 2010, Ichikawa slowly recovers his memories & vows to defeat the villainous Zebra Queen (Naka Riisa). However, the Zebra Queen has an even more evil plan in the works.
