After adapting Eternity in 2010, director M.L. Pundhevanop Dhewakul brings another classic novel to the big screen, Jan Dara. Utsana Phleungthams famous sixties erotic novel set in 1930s Siam was previously adapted for a controversial 2001 film directed by Nonzee Nimibutr. Dhewakul offers his own racy two-part retelling starring heartthrob Mario Maurer as the eponymous Jan, a man who grows up under the fearsome influence of his abusive, womanizing father, Lord Wisanan (Sakarat Ritthumrong).
In the second film Jan Dara: The Finale, Jan learns the truth behind his birth & returns home to take revenge against Wisanan. Driving Wisanan to ruin, Jan takes over the family, including his stepfathers mistress Boonleung (Rhatha Phongam). In his frightening quest for vengeance, however, Jan finds himself walking the same loathsome path as the man he hates.
