Hypothesizing on his possible inspirations for the classic tales of the supernatural, Ghost Writer spins a fantastical yarn about love in a world where humans & fairies live right next to each other. Steven Ma plays the Ming-dynasty writer who was born into a family of New Year painting dealer. His father Po Poon (Yueh Hua) expects him to succeed the family business, but Ling refuses to listen to him out of the misconception that his father colludes with the corrupt officials. One day, Ling follows his best friend, the upright constable Ko Jit (Sunny Chan) to investigate a case rumored to be linked to a fox spirit. Ling is almost killed in the process, only to be saved by the mysterious Ling Wu Siu Tsui (Fala Chen), who turns out to be the fox spirit. In time, Siu Tsui, Ling, Jit, & the painting workshop employee Lau Sum Yu (Linda Chung) fall into a complicated web of romance & grudge...
