Colour of The Truth (2003)
Wong Jing makes a serious turn in the 2003 crime thriller Colour of the Truth. Co-directed by Wong & Marco Mak, the tense police triad drama rounds up the solid cast of Anthony Wong, Jordan Chan, Raymond Wong, Chapman To, Patrick Tse & Gillian Chung, as well as Sean Lau & Francis Ng in cameo appearances. Police officers Huang Jiang (Anthony Wong) & Seven-Up (Sean Lau) are good friends. However, while Wong is committed to truth & justice, Seven Up is an informant for the triads under the direct order of crime lord Blind Chiu (Francis Ng). When Huang acquires evidence that will put Chiu behind bars, Seven-Up interferes to shield Chiu. An ensuing rooftop shoot-out leaves both Seven-Up & Chiu dead, with the official police report stating that Seven-Up died in the line of duty. Seven-Ups son Cola grows up believing that his father was murdered by Huang. Years later, Cola (Raymond Wong), now also a police officer, gets assigned to Huangs unit. Chius son Ray (Jordan Chan) suggests that they team up to get revenge against Huang.
Colour of the Loyalty (2005)
While Colour of the Truth was reminiscent of Infernal Affairs, Colour of the Loyalty, co-directed by Wong Jing & Billy Chung, actually stars Eric Tsang & Shawn Yue from the Infernal Affairs series. Retiring triad leader Dragon (Eric Tsang) is still in control of the gangs money flow. News has been spreading that his triad brothers are hiring people to assassin him. Dragon shrewdly summons a group of hitmen, led by his old comrade (Liu Kai Chi), to protect him in secret. Among the group is a smart young man (Shawn Yue) who discovers more conspiracies behind the downfall of one triad head after another...
