Karasawa Toshiaki ( Love Complex, Great White Tower) & Matsushima Nanako ( Majo no Jouken) lead the cast in NHKs star-studded 2002 Taiga drama Toshiie to Matsu. Set in the Warring States era, the 49-episode drama revolves around the life & times of Maeda Toshiie, a leading general under daimyo Oda Nobunaga. Eventually named the Lord of Kaga, Maeda saw an illustrious military career that brought him in close relations
- be it as friends or as rivals
- with the great warriors of the time, including Toyotomi Hideyoshi & Tokugawa Ieyasu. A strong & rare woman ahead of her time, Matsu played a great role in her husbands rise to power.

Even for a Taiga drama, Toshiie to Matsu attracted a particularly high amount of attention during broadcast because of its A-list cast. Other than Karasawa Toshiaki & Matsushima Nanako in the titular roles, the drama line-up also
