Adapted from novelist Jung Yoo Jungs best-selling book which won the Segye Times Literary Award in 2009, Mun Che Yongs directorial debut Shoot Me in the Heart encourages young people to be strong amid hardships. The lighthearted comedy narrates the brotherly friendship between two desperate youngsters, played by Lee Min Ki ( For the Emperor) & Yeo Jin Gu ( The Long Way Home), who are trapped in a prison-like psychiatric hospital.
Soo Myung (Yeo Jin Gu) has been sent to Soori Hope Hospital, a mental institution on a mountain, due to the trauma caused by the death of his mother who stabbed herself in the neck with a pair of scissors. Because of his phobia of scissors, he wont even allow haircuts. Seung Min (Lee Min Ki) is sane but forcefully sent to the asylum by his half-brother who wants to silence him in the family inheritance conflicts. Sharing the same room, the two gradually become friends. Ill-treated by the brutal nurses, Soo Myung accepts his fate, but Seung Min tries all measures to escape from the horrible place. Soon Soo Myung also gets involved in Seung Mins breakout plans which create a series of disturbances in the hospital.
