Twelve years after the smash hit Welcome to Dongmakgol, director Park Kwang Hyun creates a Fabricated City in his sophomore feature, an action crime thriller that depicts a gloomy society controlled by an autocratic power. Best known for hit TV dramas like The K2 & Healer, Ji Chang Wook makes his first foray onto the silver screen as an unemployed game addict who gets framed for murder. Shim Eun Kyung ( Missing You) & Ahn Jae Hong ( The King of Jokgu) co-star as fellow gamers who help prove the protagonists innocence, while Kim Sang Ho ( The Tiger: An Old Hunters Tale) plays a brutal prisoner.
After being expelled from the national taekwondo team, Kwon Yoo (Ji Chang Wook) becomes addicted to computer games. While playing in an Internet caf, the unemployed youth receives a call from a mysterious girl who asks him to help find her phone. After returning the phone to the caller, he is suddenly arrested & accused of raping & murdering a high school girl. His lawyer (Oh Jung Se, Life Risking Romance) persuades him to admit to the crime but Kwon Yoo insists on his innocence. He is eventually sent to jail where he gets cruelly beaten by fellow inmate Ma Deok Soo (Kim Sang Ho). After escaping from the prison with the help of a sympathetic serial killer, Kwon Yoo teams up with other gamers, including genius hacker Yeo Wool (Shim Eun Kyung) & special effects specialist Demolition (Ahn Jae Hong), to uncover the dark secret behind the case.
