Janice Vidal has already established herself as one of the leading female singers in Canto-pop, but now she is set to broaden her fanbase with her first English album. In fact, each of her previous Cantonese albums has included covers of English songs (including English remakes of several Leon Lai classic hits in her debut album Day & Night), & she has long wanted to release an album sung entirely in her mother tongue.
Refreshingly titled Morning, the new album from Janice comes with 10 original songs ranging from pop/rock to soul & jazz-styled. The main plug Rainbow, written by Singaporean musician Taz, expresses wishes for a world where people of different colors live in harmony. Another track that has received lots of attention is 999, a specially written song with a timely anti-drug message.
