Product Description

The snow has melted away but the cold is still with us! Here is a mixed case full of gorgeous robust wines to warm your cockles on those cold winter evenings. Tasting notes: Katherine Hills Cabernet-Shiraz 2008, South Australia (Australia) Dark red with hints of violet, the nose exudes flavours of red & black berry fruit, vanilla, caramel & hints of spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, but retains a warming feeling & smooth texture. The vanilla & fruit flavours continue on the palate to the finish, which is long & fruity with hints of caramel. Quintus Gran Reserva Pinot Noir 2008, Casablanca Valley (Chile) Elegant, delicate red wine from Chile. Ruby red in colour with a pleasant smell of ripe red fruit. On the palate, the wine has a soft texture with hints of raspberries, black cherries & berries. This finish is long & well-balanced. Maxxi Pure Cabernet Sauvignon 2007, Western Cape (South Africa) This fantastic Cabernet Sauvignon is dark red in colour with violet hues. The fruit-driven nose is complex, offering raspberry ganache, spice, toast & espresso over the blackberry & blackcurrant fruit. On the palate, the wine has a wonderfully smooth texture displaying toast, cream, tobacco & fruit flavour with a touch of minerality. The finish is long & smoky yet retains the fruit as well. This is an extremely well-made & well-balanced wine. Chteau d' Avensan 2006, Haut Mdoc Cru Bourgeois (Bordeaux, France) Intense dark violet red in colour, with a complex nose bursting with spice & vanilla aromas. Blackberry fruit notes feature on the palate, where the wine is full-bodied. The oak-ageing has given the wine hints of spice & vanilla on the finish. Casa Safra Reserva 2004, Alicante (Spain) Aged in oak for 12 months & in bottle for 2 years, this velvety wine is striking dark red in colour with a violet rim. The complex nose is spicy with caramel & fruit notes. On the palate, the wine is rustic, solid, with herb & earthy flavours. The wine has a good acidity on the finish. Feudi Nigri Salento Rosso 2008, IGT (Italy) This wine is made from the local grape variety Primitivo. Jammy fruits on the nose, the wine is well-balanced & long on the finish. Easy-to-drink & fruity, this is a perfect display of the rich region this has come from.
