Product Description

Italy & France are by far the world's largest wine countries. In fact, the region of Puglia, in the heel of the Italian boot, produces as much wine as the whole of Australia! It's no surprise that the wine variation within this beautiful country is huge, but sometimes also very confusing! With over 2000 different grape varieties, & twenty regions with completely different cultures & wine styles, Italy is certainly an extremely exciting wine-producing country. We have put together a mixed case for you with six wonderful Italian classics, from a fruity & refreshing Pinot Grigio, to a powerful, rich & elegant Ripasso, the baby sister of Amarone. Tasting notes: Montasolo Veneto IGT Pinot Grigio 2010 Citrus yellow with green hints in colour. The nose bursts with fresh fruit aromas of pineapple & crusty bread. The wine is dry with high acidity & has a mineral structure. The finish is long with a floral hint. Scanavino Barbaresco DOCG 2008 Fantastic crimson-violet colour, this prestigious Barbaresco offers oak, liquorice & black fruit on the complex nose. It is wonderfully warming on the palate with a good concentration of fruit supported by silky tannins. The finish is long & complex. Gran Maestro Valpolicella DOC Ripasso 2009 The Ripasso technique consists of adding the pomace of leftover grape skins & seeds from the fermentation Amarone to the batch of Valpolicella wines for a period of extended maceration. This method adds greater size, complexity & ageing potential to the wine. Beautiful dark red colour with violet hues. Pleasant fragrance with notes of ripe red fruits. Velvety taste with aromas of cherries & blackberries. This wine is well-balanced & full of exciting flavours. Serramater Montepulciano d' Abruzzo DOC 2010 Another fantastic region in Italy, the wine has a pronounced & expressive nose full of black fruit & truffles. Elegant & smooth in texture, the wine has soft tannins to give it a good structure. Baronia del Feudi Sicilia Nero d' Avola 2000 Deep red violet in colour, this wine offers jammy red & black fruits on the nose. On the palate, the wine offers a great texture
- full-bodied & wonderfully smooth texture with great fruity flavours. The wine is well-balanced & long on the finish. Truly irresistible! Feudi Nigri Salento IGT Rosato 2010 Pale colour, fruity on the nose, the freshness of this rose will seduce you with its subtle aromas of caramel & prunes. Refreshing, fruity, spicy & utterly delicious. Served at 10C with salads, fish, white meats & mild cheeses
