It's no surprise that the wine variation within this beautiful country is huge, but sometimes also very confusing! With over 2000 different grape varieties, & twenty regions with completely different cultures & wine styles, Italy is certainly an extremely exciting wine-producing country. We have put together a mixed case for you with six wonderful Italian classics, from a fruity & refreshing Pinot Grigio, to a powerful, rich & elegant Ripasso, the baby sister of Amarone. Tasting notes: Montasolo Veneto IGT Pinot Grigio 2010 Citrus yellow with green hints in colour. The nose bursts with fresh fruit aromas of pineapple & crusty bread. The wine is dry with high acidity & has a mineral structure. The finish is long with a floral hint. Scanavino Barbaresco DOCG 2008 Fantastic crimson-violet colour, this prestigious Barbaresco offers oak, liquorice & black fruit on the complex nose. It is wonderfully warming on the palate with a good concentration of fruit supported by silky tannins. The finish is long & complex. Gran Maestro Valpolicella DOC Ripasso 2009 The Ripasso technique consists of adding the pomace of leftover grape skins & seeds from the fermentation Amarone to the batch of Valpolicella wines for a period of extended maceration. This method adds greater size, complexity & ageing potential to the wine. Beautiful dark red colour with violet hues. Pleasant fragrance with notes of ripe red fruits. Velvety taste with aromas of cherries & blackberries. This wine is well-balanced & full of exciting flavours. Serramater Montepulciano d' Abruzzo DOC 2010 Another fantastic region in Italy, the wine has a pronounced & expressive nose full of black fruit & truffles. Elegant & smooth in texture, the wine has soft tannins to give it a good structure. Baronia del Feudi Sicilia Nero d' Avola 2000 Deep red violet in colour, this wine offers jammy red & black fruits on the nose. On the palate, the wine offers a great texture
