The popularity of Argentinian wines has greatly increased in the last few years. Here, Winedeal has chosen six wines, which we believe truly represent the quality & finesse of wines from this great country. The wines are from the Las Moras Estate, recently awarded Argentinian Producer of the Year Award 2008 at the International Wine & Spirit Competition. Tasting notes: Hereford Rose 2009, Mendoza Valley Argentinian ross benefit from extraordinary climatic conditions which produce rich & complex wines. The nose is fruity & floral, with a lovely roundnes & freshness on the palate. A fantastic wine to have with summer salads & share with friends. Hereford White 2009, Mendoza Valley This remarkable white wine is an unusual blend of Chenin Blanc, Ugni Blanc & Tocai Friulano, grape varieties which all benefit from the wonderful climatic conditions of the Mendoza Valley. The nose is intense with peach, floral & citrus notes. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, which is balanced by a wonderful freshness. We have enjoyed Hereford's red & ros, & now the white too does not disappoint! Las Moras Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, San Juan This delightful, award-winning Argentinian Cabernet Sauvignon is vibrant violet in colour & offers wonderful notes of prunes, blakccurrant & cherry on the nose. It is well-rounded & balanced on the palate with flavours of jammy fruits & hints of spice. Las Moras Viognier 2008, San Juan Light yellow in colour with a green rim, this Argentinian Viognier is full of citrus, grassy & tropical fruit notes. On the palate, it is extremely refreshing. The high acidity will make your mouth water & you will soon be reaching for your glass in no time! Las Moras Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz Reserva 2007, San Juan This wine is a wonderful example of a Cabernet Sauvignon/ Shiraz blend. We immediately enjoyed its complex nose, which is reminiscent of Syrah from the Languedoc with spice & hints of mint. It is full-bodied with integrated tannins, & would go wonderfully with a fillet of beef. It was awarded 91 points in the Wine & Spirits magazine & was voted Best in Category at IWSC in London! Las Moras Chardonnay Reserva 2008, San Juan Discover this wonderful Reserva 2008 from the Las Moras Estate. The wine is a Decanter & IWSC silver medal winner, & bursts with fresh apple & soft fruit aromas. The palate is extremely fresh & mineral. The wine would be fantastic with white meats or fish.
