It is reliable even in the cooler climates & is one of the more popular apple trees. It is self-fertile which means it ill fruit & flower independently & will reward you with fruit even if it is planted in isolation. Orange Pippin is a mid/late season variety & although grown to eat fresh the apples are great for juice & is a common ingredient in chutneys & mincemeat.
