Emma was the eldest daughter born into a large family in Oxford. Her father started grew & eventually sold a publishing business which gave Emma an insight into entrepreneurial life. Emma graduated from University in London with a degree in English Literature & her first & only job was working for small fashion business Muir & Osborne. Here she became involved in every aspect of the business which gave her the taste for doing something herself. Emma married Matthew Rice the son of two designers in 1987 & since then he & Emma have worked collaboratively on the Emma Bridgewater designs. They currently live in Oxford with their four children.
