There is not a house in this street or any other street anywhere that the family is not hiding some secret some bigger than others says Sarah Edwards to her daughter Rose. Its something that some members of their family already know only too well & others will come to learn in time. We follow the lives of Sarah some of her children & grandchildren living in the Wiltshire countryside from the joyous end of the First World War & how their lives were shaped as they battled through the next 20 years only to have to go through it all again with rationing & hardship once again dealing with the heartache of loss & the anguish of separation from loved ones. The burden of keeping a secret can sometimes be lifted by sharing it but other secrets should never be shared & are best taken to the grave
- for everyones sake.
