Fifty Pound Gin takes its name from the Gin Act of 1736, when, in an attempt to curb the 'social evil' caused by the excessive & uncontrolled production & consumption of Gin, an annual levy of £50 was imposed on those wishing to produce & sell gin. Shortly after the Gin Act, a family of independent London Distillers created an original gin recipe, characterised by its particular smoothness & flavour
- known ironically amongst themselves as ' Fifty Pounds' in honour of the Gin Act levy. The recipe remained hidden for generations until the descendants of those pioneers rescued it from oblivion. The resulting gin has an alcohol content of 43. 5%, making it perfect for drinking in a dry martini or mixed with tonic. The beautiful bottle is presented in a gift box with two balloon glasses specially designed to enhance the aromas & flavours of a classic Gin & Tonic. The Fifty Pounds Gin Gift Set makes a great gift for the Gin or Spirit Lover or a wonderful addition to your own drinks cabinet. We can even add your personal gift message & sent direct to a lucky recipient.
