During the season  Arsenal finished 4th in the Premier League and made it to the 2006 Champions League final where they lost 2-1 against Barcelona with Sol Campbell giving Arsenal the lead in the first half, despite Jens Lehmann being sent off in the 18th minute, before 2 goals in the last 15 minutes from Samuel Eto'o & Juliano Belletti meant that Barcelona would lift the trophy.
