Being the king of the volcano world, Vesuvius is a fitting name for this Penstemon, which is among the finest in the Volcano series. Perhaps best known for its non&45;stop flowering throughout the summer & early autumn, this hardy perennial’s compact, upright habit makes it well suited to the front of sunny or partially shady borders, or to patio containers. The blooms themselves are a pretty violet&45;blue colour with a pure white throat & prove attractive to pollinating insects. Although Penstemon Vesuvius probably couldnt grow inside a volcano, it can survive almost anything else: drought, rain, slugs & snails are no match for this resilient plant.
