The Holm Oak is a stately evergreen tree with distinctive glossy dark green foliage with whiteish undersides. The leaves are the shape of holly leaves, earning it the alternative name of Holly-leaved Oak. The tree has yellow catkins in spring, followed by shiny acorns in summer & autumn. In sun or partial shade, Quercus ilex can be grown as a full-size tree or as a hedge: it is easy to clip & maintain. It is drought resistant & tolerant of pollution, as well as being attractive to wildlife.
