Trickers of Jermyn Street: Goodyear Welted Calf Leather The English master shoemaker, Joseph Tricker, founded the company R.E. Tricker Ltd in 1829. Today, five generations later, it is still a family-owned business. Only the finest materials are used, such as calf leather & leather soles, all made with a labour intensive oak bark tanning process. Not only the careful selection of materials, but also the legendary workmanship are decisive for the external appearance of a shoe. Tricker’s produce a classic, typical British shoe with elegance & understatement. Tricker’s shoes are goodyear welted. This traditional method of production entails the upper leather being welt stitched around the top flat edge. The sole is also stitched to the frame. The sole, the inner sole & the layer of cork between the two soles are sewn together & not glued together, encouraging the natural heel-toe walking of the foot. After goodyear welted shoes have been worn in, they are extremely comfortable to wear & last an exceptionally long time.
