Appenzeller belt in natural-coloured calf leather. Width 3 cm. Even though its been "in" to wear these belts for years, this is a piece of old Swiss tradition. The handicraft trade run by the mountain farmers, the " Sennen", has been an important part of Appenzell culture for over 200 years. These products are made using leather & metal fittings (metal plates with Sennen designs) by h&. In the past, it was predominantly braces which were made & it was considered that the more metal parts a pair of braces had, the better off the owner was. The leather belts are decorated by metal fittings made from solid brass sheet which show the " Alp climb" motif with shepherd, dog & cows. They are made in a Sennen workshop in Appenzell.
