Manchester City 1956 FA Cup Final Goalkeeper Shirt After serving in the Luftwaffe Bernhard 'Bert' Trautmann spent time in a POW camp before his eventual release and subsequent signing for Manchester City. Despite losing in the 1955 Cup Final City made it back to Wembley the following year and made no mistake against Birmingham City, a game in which Trautmann cemented legendary status by completing the game with a broken neck. This shirt is long sleeved and made from knitted cotton.
One newspaper described this as the "dustbin final" following disgraceful scenes as Blackburn supporters showered Stan Cullis and his players with orange peels, apple cores, plastic cups and general rubbish as they made their way down the Wembley tunnel with the FA Cup. Even the band out on the pitch attempted to play louder than ever hoping to drown out the background of the protesting voices.
