Gunnera is the 'big daddy? of the gardening world, & best suited to a large space where it can grow to its full potential. The giant, umbrella-like foliage can reach over 1m across metres across, & will add a real 'wow? factor to the garden! Throughout summer, this herbaceous perennial throws up erect panicles of red-brown flowers that rise on stiff stems above the leaves. Also affectionately known as Giant Rhubarb, Gunnera is robust, spectacular & architectural. They make great specimen plants for permanently moist soils. Perfect for woodland areas, or the damp soil beside a pond where the reflection in water is especially beautiful.
